I’m not very handy around the house. In the kitchen, I’m a wizard – cookies are my specialty, but I can make a lot of tasty things. Anyway, that’s off topic – what I’m talking about is a moving tool specifically for people like me, who tend to get kind of overwhelmed by a task like moving that requires a lot of heavy lifting and truck driving and other manly talents.             The truck wizard helps you to figure out how much space you need to pack up everything you own. The basic wisdom is to allow 150 cubic feet of truck space for every furnished room in your house, and with a knowledge of truck sizes, you can make a pretty good estimate from there. A 12 foot long truck, for example, has 450 cubic feet of space, while a 26 foot long truck has 1,400 cubic feet of space for stuff.

            But for the mathematically challenged, this might still sound a bit tricky. This is where the truck wizard comes in to save the day. The wizard gives you a checklist so you can go through your home and evaluate what you have, then you just complete an easy online form and the wizard will recommend a truck for you. Pretty cool, eh? It’s as easy as printing Penske coupons and will make sure you don’t rent too little or too much truck space for your move. 

What do chicken sandwiches and moving trucks have to do with military wives?

Every May, the Friday before Mother’s Day is dedicated to a lesser-known celebration: Military Spouse Day. You probably didn’t even know the holiday existed, so I’m sure you don’t know how Penske coupons and chicken sandwiches play into it – but if you read on, you will!

The day was established to celebrate the hard work of husbands and wives who are charged with maintaining their homes, caring for wounded soldiers and carrying on the memory of the soldiers who fight for our freedom. The holiday was established in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan.

This year, Chick-Fil-A and Penske Truck Rental did their part to make this year’s celebration special by collecting and delivering donated gifts to military spouses who are waiting for their loved ones to return from overseas.

Chick-Fil-A hosted a gift drive, encouraging local families to donate small gifts which would serve as tokens of appreciation to military spouses. After collecting thousands of gifts, those presents had to be delivered – so Penske donated trucks to pick up and distribute the gift boxes.

I was unaware of this holiday until I saw information about the gift drive online while hunting for Penske coupons, but I definitely want to do my part to celebrate unsung home-front heroes when Military Spouse Day 2012 rolls around.
